Along with Jesus Christ giving the sign “as in the days of Noah” (Matthew 24:37-39) before His Second Coming, He also warned that time would also be “as the days of Lot” (Luke 17:26-29). So, what were the days of Lot?
Luke 17:28 tells us, “Likewise also as it is in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded.” That sounds innocent enough, but verse 29 says, “But that same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.” God did not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of their normal survival obligations. So, obviously there was more to that for God to send fire and brimstone. Genesis 13:13 says, “But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the LORD exceedingly.” But are we not all wicked and sinners, even today?
Everyone knows the story of Lot and the reason God told him to leave Sodom. Lot welcomed angels into his home but the men of the city in their vicious and aggressive perversion wanted the men (the angels) for themselves. Therefore, God destroyed them all, minus Lot’s family. Of course, Lot’s wife failed to obey him and was turned into a pillar of salt. Will that scene repeat itself today? The Jerusalem Post, April 19, 2026, posted the article titled, “Four day pride festival to be held at Dead Sea, largest in history of Middle East.” This will be four days of sexual debauchery flaunted before the world and in the face of a Holy God. Will God just wink at their display then turn His cheek? Not hardly. Will He cause another climactic disaster as before? Who knows that but God. The promoters want to get the highest recognition for this event, yet they will be celebrating in the lowest place on earth. The individuals will not just be eating and drinking for 4 non-stop days, they will be exhibiting their hatred for a Holy God who has given them every breath to breathe.
This is not just a celebratory event supporting societal changes and acceptance, this is not some political event, but it is a spiritual event with severe consequences that may not be dealt with immediately, but they will be dealt with in the near future. Sadly, they will negatively influence the innocent minds of the younger generation. Psalm 5:5 says, “Thou foolish shall not stand in thy sight; Thou (God) hatest the workers of iniquity.” Isaiah 5:20 warns us, “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness: that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7). God determines what is right and wrong, not man.
Still, the pulpits are silent.
