- Creation from nothing
- Closed the door to the Ark
- Parted a great sea to allow the Israelites to cross on dry land
- Carved the Ten Commandments in stone
- Resurrected a dead man from his tomb
- Resurrected the Son from the tomb
- Etc.
It was and is our sovereign God. Yet, the Arminians think that God is wringing His hands in desperate hope that a sinner will accept Jesus Christ and save himself by decision or free will. God can create out of nothing, but man can have sovereignty over God in salvation? God is sovereign, not man. The Arminian does not see this.
When John recorded the words of Jesus Christ in John 3, He told Nicodemus that he “must be born again.” He did not say that he must accept Him. He did not say that he needed to go away so he could come to a decision. He did not say to let his free will take over and make the right choice. Sinners do not make themselves “born again” any more than they make themselves born the first time. They do not make themselves “born again” any more than the earth created itself.
The Holy Spirit regenerates who He will, and it is not of man’s phony decision but of the Triune God’s good pleasure and electing grace (Ephesians 1:4, 5).
- Did Adam create he world? No. It was God the Son. Colossians 1:16
- Did Noah close the door to the Ark in which he and his family were saved form the floods? No. It was God. Genesis 7:16
- Did the Israelites part the sea so they come escape the wrath of the Egyptians?
- No. It was God Who gave the power to Moses to do the Will of the Father.
- Exodus 14:21
- Did Moses carve the Ten Commandments in stone. No. It was God Who did that. Exodus 20
- Did Lazarus raise himself from four days of death to be resurrected? No. It was Jesus Christ through the Father Who did that. John 11:40-43
- Did Jesus raise Himself from the grave (though He could have because He is God)? No. It was God the Father. Acts 2:24; Romans 8:11
- Etc. It was God. Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21
So, why does the Arminian think that he has power over God in salvation? If God chooses someone for salvation, is God incapable of bringing that person to salvation? What does John 6:37, 44 say? Is it man’s power or God’s omnipotent power that can change the will of man? Can man do it or can God do it?
